Why put it back....the old way was to actually to introduce saline and using a sterhthacope listen for sound in stomach.. once you have determined the tube is patent..no reason to put it back..why risk a introducing a potential contaminant

But acid never contaminated. I think No bacterial growth occur...😅😉

If you put it back are you still double checking patency. Of tube would you not have to. Physically listen??

1. to check whether the NG tube is permeable both ways (it’s not infected and nothing foreign, so why not). Though we usually just use air to check the tube in first place. When we can’t hear something we aspirate.
