Supravital staining of peripheral blood smear showing golf ball cells(appearance of golf ball).

Seen in HbH disease(alpha thalassemia) In absence of alpha globin chains, Beta globin chains of HbA forms tetramer called Hemoglobin H. Tetramer of beta globin chains(inclusion inside RBC) in hemoglobin H gives the appearance of golf ball.
