[Acute Rheumatic Fever - ARF] ARF is caused by group A beta-hemolytic Streptococci typically causes inflammation of upper respiratory tracts and results in the development of rheumatic inflammation. Group A beta-hemolytic Streptococci are presented by 80 various strains. Similar antigenic structures are found in: - muscular cells of the myocardium, - glycoproteins of the connective tissue of the heart valves, - cytoplasms of subthalamic and caudate nuclei of the brain, epithelum of cortical and medullar areas of the thalamus.
