Obesity hypoventilation syndrome (OHS)

Obesity hypoventilation syndrome (ohs) also known as pickwickian syndrome is a condition in which severely over weight people fail to breathe rapidly or deeply enough, resulting in low oxygen levels and high blood carbon dioxide (co2)levels. Many people also frequently stop breathing for short periods of time during sleep (obstructive sleep apnea),resulting in many partial awakenings during the night, which leads to sleepiness during the day. The diseases puts strain on the heart, which may lead to heart failure and leg swelling.

Daniel Lambert, an extremely intelligent, active and likeable man. It's a shame that his condition became so severe & he died so young. At the time of death he weighted almost 800 lbs despite being an avid Hunter, dog breeder and prison warden. He died suddenly in his sleep.
