I want to become a paramedic or a EMT , wondering how to get here. I didn't do well really at school but now I have achieved level 2 in Health and Social care. And I am restarting my Access to Healthcare Professions course. What do I need to do next?
EMT for around 5 years. EMT is a prerequisite for Medic. EMT is not a good career and the pay is shit. If you want to work in EMS long term go be a Medic or ED nurse/PA/Dr. Regarding schooling, EMT-B is a low bar, can be completed in 3 weeks to 3 months and often requires no prerequisites. EMT-I, A, and P require additional schooling and the prerequisites will be specified by the spesific school.
Itβs going to depend greatly on where you are. I just applied, interviewed and got accepted. If they donβt accept you then you just fix what was missing and reapply. But thatβs just in America where I am.
Go ahead.keep focus on your studies. You can do a lot with your devotion & hard work toyour subjects.
Check and see if the universities you are interested in require maths or English GCSE grade C or above. Also gain as much experience as possible in care, or St Johns ambulance as that will support your uni application. (I teach Access Science)
You need maths and English level 2 and science for both EMT / para. Experience with St Johns would be beneficial. UK
No offense but I disagree. I am a EMT and I love it. Some places pay more than others. It is really rewarding to help someone on their worst day. Accelerated program and all the benefits. Worth it!!!
