Cyclooxygenase (COX) Two main isoforms: COX-1 --- Constitutive --> stimulates prostaglandin synthesis to preserve gastric mucosa, maintain renal perfusion, and inhibit thrombus formation. COX-2 --- Inducible --> stimulates prostaglandins involved in inflammation/pain.
