Osmolality vs Tonicity

Osmolality vs Tonicity

Osmolality deals with how many osmoles (effective or not) in a fluid. Tonicity only deals with effective osmoles. Urea is NOT an effective osmole (it passes freely through the plasma membrane, so by definition it cannot cause an osmotic gradient). In this video, you will learn all you need to know about anti-diuretic hormone (ADH).
