Hi everyone! Just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Christine and I am pursuing an RN license in California. I am currently finishing up my prerequisites at a local community college. Right now, I am taking microbiology and will finish up in the summer with pharmacology and will be applying for a nursing program in the fall! I have been a CNA for about a year and 100% recommend that to anyone who is thinking about going into the nursing field. The amount I have learned about the medical field and about myself being a CNA is mind blowing. So happy to have found this app and can’t wait to start learning from it! Let me know if you have advice for nursing school or nursing! 😊
hey christine, i’m in my second semester of nursing now... if i can give you any pointers- don’t study the night before the test. try and master the lecture material from each day and try and find something to connect it to. a nemonic or to a particular patient. or anything you can. it’s not just about recall of information, it’s taking what you know and knowing how to interpret that information into an answer. good luck!
Hi Christine I’m karla and I’m 16 years old , I recently just gotten this summer internship to shadow my surgeon for the rest of the summer and I sign up for this medical program in my school for RN assistant which is 3 semesters , I’m excited about all this studying but I’m also scared becuz Im afraid I’ll do something wrong.... any advice ???
Hi Karla!! Shadowing a surgeon sounds like amazing experience! I am SO jealous! Don’t be afraid to jump in at all! It is undoubtedly a physically and mentally draining job, but the payoff is so worth it. There really is nothing better than helping others in their time of need. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and certainly don’t be afraid to ask for help. You WILL make mistakes, but you will learn from every single one of them. Try your best to not do the bare minimum. People are always watching and they will see when you go the extra mile for your patients, whether it be your coworkers or your patient’s friends/family. Let me know if you have any other questions! 😊
Being a CNA is a excellent. I am on admissions at Duke School of Nursing and we look carefully at who has had experience like being a CNA. Also write a flawless essay both in content and grammar if there is an essay component. Recommendations from nurses who are active in the field also helps.
