Fanconi Syndrome (Proximal convoluted tubule defect)

Fanconi syndrome is a defective proximal convoluted tubule (PCT) of the kidney. Don't confuse this with Fanconi Anemia (an autosomal recessive disease, causing aplastic anemia and pancytopenia). Fanconi syndrome leads to type 2 (proximal) renal tubular acidosis "RTA”.
