Endometriosis is a fairly common disease, but not often spoken about. Endometriosis affects 1 in every 10 women get affected by endometriosis in their reproductive years. 176 million women suffer from Endometriosis worldwide. Endometriosis is the growth of uterine lining outside of the uterus. The growths still go through menstruation, meaning you can have cramps outside of the uterus. This causes a woman's period to be extremely uncomfortable, and the woman can have pain even when not on her period. There are not many treatments for this disease right now, and most women just have to treat the symptoms with pain medicine, heating pads, and rest. Endometriosis also cause pain during sexual intercourse along with infertility. 30%-50% of women with Endometriosis experience infertility, and have a 30%-66% increased risk of ovarian cancer.
