What’s the best way to go about helping someone with an eating disorder? (Asking for a real-life situation)

You should try to slowly encourage them to eat by baking them healthy snacks and buying them healthy foods when you go out shopping, key being healthy so that they feel it is easier to eat as it is good. Offer to pay for their meal if you go out for dinner so they have no excuse. Try not to make it obvious that you are trying to help as they might take it the wrong way and you could make things worse. After a while try to talk to them to see what has caused the problem. It’s such a sensitive subject and is different for each person. Everyone has a different story, I’ve been through it with one of my closest friends and it was so hard to know what to do! If you need any more tips I’m happy to help 😋

As some who has an eat disorders for several years. Sometimes there is not much you can do to help. They have to want the help to receive the help. I’m sorry this may seem harsh but it’s reality. If they have reached out to you encourage them to seek therapy. Just try to show that will support them with out judgement and try not to put too much pressure on yourself to take care of them. If you would like to ask more feel free to pm. Best of luck.

Thank you. Kind of personal, but I’ve had an eating disorder myself, and that’s why I’m so scared for her. I hate seeing her suffer the way I did, and I’m having a hard time accepting that there may not be a way to help if she doesn’t want it.
