The findings in bacterial endocarditis can be summarized through this mnemonic... "from Jane" 😊💁♀️ *Fever - sudden onset high fever (>103°F) *Roth spots aka Litten spots are white centered retinal hemorrhagic spots due to endothelial damage of retinal capillaries. *Oslers node are "tender nodules" on the palms, soles and pads of the fingers/toes. *Murmur - though it's absent in a few patients, it is heard mostly due to aortic regurgitation. *Janeway lesions- are "nontender", purpuric macules usually on the palms and soles. They are usually purple and erythematous. *Anemia - hemolytic anemia that is normocytic and normochromic. *Nail bed hemorrhage - or splinter hemorrhage *Emboli
