BBB and neostigmine

BBB and neostigmine

When does the dad give an entry? 😉 The blood brain barrier in human, matures at an early age of 4months. What the dad does : 💁‍♂️ The blood–brain barrier restricts the passage of pathogens, the diffusion of solutes in the blood, and large or hydrophilic molecules into the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), while "allowing" the diffusion of "hydrophobic molecules" (O2, CO2, hormones) and small polar molecules. Areas missed out by the dad: 😬 Four areas of the brain are not protected by the blood-brain barrier. These areas include the posterior pituitary gland, pineal gland, the median eminence of the hypothalamus and the area postrema. What's the role of neostigmine? 🧐 Neostigmine is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of myasthenia gravis.Neostigmine has moderate duration of action – usually two to four hours. Why does dad stop neostigmine but not his brother, physostigmine? 🤔🚫 Unlike physostigmine, neostigmine has a quaternary nitrogen; hence, it is more polar and does not cross the blood–brain barrier and enter the CNS, but it does cross the placenta. No one can play with a strong Dad around.. Agreed? 💪😉
