STEMI vs non-STEMI Myocardial infarction occur when the blood supply to the heart is stopped partially or completly. Now if the flow stopped 100% through coronary artery the ECG will show ST elevation. And its absent in case of partial obstruction. thus ST elevated MI is quite dangerous because there are no blood supply at all to save the heart or delay damage. Thus when a >40 y.o patient suffer chest pain and any other MI symptoms, it is essintial to obtain 12 lead ECG and transfer the patient to hospital with cath lab if ST elevation was detected.
