Having a scan can be a scary idea due to the size and noise of the machine, especially for children. University Hospital Southampton has now got a new inflatable MRI scanner to help reassure children ahead of their scan. It is hoped that if children are more comfortable with the idea, there will be a reduction in the number of general anaesthetics required.
