The right answer is D. Secondary syphilis caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. The picture shows a characteristic "copper penny rash" that's typically seen on the palms of hands and soles of the feet. They are usually symmetric, dusky red and pleomorphic papulosquamous rashes that does not itch or cause pain. Whereas the characteristic feature of primary syphilis is a chancre. Chancres are usually firm, round and painless or sometimes open and wet. The tx strategy is to give antibiotics to both the patient as well as their partner as its a sexually transmitted disease.
