Public Awareness and Myth of Hepatitis A.  patients have jaundice ( yellow color of eyes ) for couple of days and weeks which with time recovers in most of the cases and that is a natural process and not a magic by peer faqeer.   History : People in Pakistan,India,bangladesh and afghanistan with jaundice ( yellow color of eyes , yarqaan in Urdu , peelya in Punjabi ,  Saai in Sindhi, zyari in pushto and zardoi in blochi )  usually go to Peer and faqeer ( spiritual or religious man ) and they tie patients with this thread in neck with typical arrangements of a green sticks. Peer and faqeer tell them that as these green sticks would get dry , these knots would open and the patient would get better and his color of eyes would change to normal. And people eagerly wait to to see it happen    Myth and working  With their belief , they say to patients "" as green stick would turn dry , magic knots will open and disease would run away , and patient would get better and healthy.    Truth behind  Actually what happens that after ten days to two weeks (14days) green sticks of plant get dry , the size of dried stick now reduces in diameter and this causes loose knots. With one two more days these loose knots open and dried sticks fall down.  As knots start to open , it is about end of second to start  of third month and by this time natural history of the disease is in recovery phase and patient gets normal with normal color of eyes.   That is why people are trapped in false beliefs of peer and baba about such ridiculous methods of treatment which are fraud and deception.
