Lesser omentum

Lesser omentum

More peritoneum! More abdominal and gastrointestinal anatomy! More clingfilm! The lesser omentum runs between the stomach and the liver. In fact, it also runs from the proximal duodenum to the liver. That can be quite difficult to imagine. Let's have a look at where the lesser omentum is and try to make it out of clingfilm. We'll go back to the embryology to work out where it came from, think about the peritoneum, find out what the lesser omentum is useful for, hunt for the lesser sac/omental bursa, epiploic foramen/omental foramen, hepatic artery proper, hepatic portal vein and the bile duct.
