Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Slow insidious growth of the prostatic stromal cells and epithelial glands eventually compressing the urethra. There will be progressively increasing pressure within the bladder and hypertrophy of the detrusor muscle. The exact cause of BPH is not well known. The drugs used to improve the symptoms of BPH are 1) Alpha-1 blocker { PRAZOSIN TERAZOSIN DOXAZOSIN TAMSULOSIN* ALFUZOSIN SILODOSIN*} 2) 5-alpha reductase enzyme inhibitors { FINASTERIDE DUTASTERIDE*} 3)Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors {SILDENAFIL VARDENAFIL TADALAFIL AVANAFIL} 4) Androgen Receptor blockers {FLUTAMIDE BICALUTAMIDE ENCALUTAMIDE NILUTAMIDE} 5) GnRH Analogues {LEUPROLIDE GOSERELIN HOSTRELIN NAFARELIN}
