🤠What is OGTT⚕️ OGTT stands for Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. It is a test protocol that is used in some cases to diagnose Diabetes Mellitus. After a fasting blood sample is taken to test for glucose, you will be given a standard dose of glucose to be consumed in a glass of water. This dose of glucose may be 100g or 75g as required. Blood samples to test for glucose are then taken every 30 minutes or one hour as the case may be, upto 3 hours after the glucose is consumed. Urine samples may also be taken simultaneously to test for sugar. The values for glucose as reported in the tests are then studied to determine if you have Diabetes Mellitus, or if you have a pre-diabetic condition. A modified form of OGTT is also used as a screening test for Diabetes Mellitus in pregnancy.
