Hiccups

Hiccups are involuntary spasms of the diaphragm.
There are many causes of hiccup like any condition that cause irritation of the phrenic nerve which is the nerve supply of the diaphragm. Many conditions can cause this irritation and result in hiccups, including eating too fast and swallowing air, chewing gum, smoking, eating or drinking too much, strokes, brain tumors, some medications, noxious fumes, anxiety and stress, and in babies, hiccups may be associated with crying, coughing, or gastroesophageal reflux (GERD).
For most people, hiccups usually last a few minutes and are not a medical concern. However, if your hiccups last longer than two days, they're considered chronic.
And it's usually mild but it can indicate a serious problem.
