A 22 yr old patient complaining of dark reddish brown patch around the site of needle prick after a blood donation of 450 ml with slight tender around it...... appears 11 hr after donation of blood.........
Disclaimer:Nursing student that honestly has no clue but I’ll take a stab at it since it says to use common sense. It looks similar to the pressure sores we studied in class a couple of weeks back, so perhaps the needle was blunt and needed to be replaced, or perhaps the blood was taken too quickly and the lack of blood flow, and then the rush of blood afterwards to “fill the gaps” created the bruise-like effect?
Nice try 👏 u r so close to the answer.....but actually it's not a bruise.
Hemorrhage or extravasation (leakinng) of blood into the subcutaneous tissue. The resultant darkening ois commonly described as a bruise. Collection of extravasated blood trapped in the tissues and palpable to the examiner, such as on the ear. ... Massive hemorrhage into the tissues under the skin.
