X-Rays and CT scans showing a new born child with an Epignathus tumor. Epignathus is the term given to rare teratoid tumor that arises from the oropharyngeal region (typically the palate) in utero, or in the neonatal period. They are very rare tumors, with an 80-100% mortality rate due to the fact the tumor typically obstructs the airway. In this case the tumor was discovered in utero, a caesarean was performed and the child died shortly after delivery.
