This is a trans-lamina terminalis route via a pterional craniotomy for resection of craniopharyngioma. Many other approaches can be used to remove such tumors. These other approaches include a transbasal subfrontal trans-lamina terminalis craniotomy, and the endonasal approach. A craniopharyngioma is benign tumor. This type of tumor grows in the sellar or suprasellar region within the skull. One main structure of the brain that this tumor grows is the pituitary gland and stalk. Additionally, one symptom of this tumor can be bitemporal hemianopia.
