Bleeding into the brain!

Bleeding into the brain!

Here's an acute subdural hematoma in a 85-year-old male patient who suffered a traumatic brain injury. A subdural hematoma is among the deadliest of all head injuries. The bleeding fills the brain area very rapidly, compressing brain tissue. He presented in the emergency room with severe headache, vomiting and left hemiparesis (due to right sided hematoma) and rapidly deteriorated from a 13 Glasgow coma scale to 6. The team rapidly proceeded to an emergency craniotomy and evacuation of the hematoma. The next post will present a closeup view of the brain following the hematoma removal! Credit @rpaglioli
