How do I know if I truly like and want to follow medicine or it's just another passion that will go away in time ?
If you find yourself wanting to read or watch medical stuff most of the time, and the more you read or watch the more you want to read and watch again. If you are like this so you are really interested in following a medical career.
Since I've discovered doctor Mike's channel I've been binge watching all his videos, whether they were funny or educational. I find the medical field fun but at the same time very hard and idk how I would cope with that. Sometimes I'm grossed out when I'm thinking about some procedures. And since I was a kid I NEVER even thought about being a doctor cause I just didnt like it. I would love helping people but I'm really emotional and I'll probably break down a few times because of the emotions that the patients share
Passions don’t go away in time, interests may come and go. Emotions are not a bad thing at all. Empathy is one of the most powerful ways a doctor can heal. It is hard, but all rewarding things provide a challenge. Don’t forget though that medical school isn’t about helping people yet, it’s about quite intense scientific learning so you have to have a passion for that as well. I would recommend learning some basic anatomy and physiology and seeing if you like it.
Thank you. I will. Oh and also I am a really empathic person, almost a little bit too much empathic.
I'm not in high school yet lmao. it must have been a mistake , it happens
