What is TPR(total Peripheral resistance)? Is it the arterioles resistance or it is the recoil of the blood vessels ?

Arterioles are the only main vessels that provide resistance in the circulatory system. So,TPR is the total resistance provided by all arterioles of the peripheral vessels.

It is the resistance offered by the blood in the systemic circuit so I guess the second option

I was thinking the same way but I think there’s something missing 🤔

Tpr is the resistance offered by arterioles(resistance vessels) to the flow of blood through them. Mostly maintained by vasomotor tone. On the other hand, large arteries are the ones that recoil(windkessel vessels) so that blood flow is maintained even in diastole when cardiac ejection ceases. Recoil have a role pertaining to diastolic pressure.
