LIP ENTANGLED IN ORTHODONTIC BRACKETS!
This kid was riding his bike when he tripped. His head collided with the steering, causing the upper lip to get entangled with the brackets of the maxillary anterior teeth. Two incisors were also intruded due to the fall. The lip had to be freed from brackets/wires surgically by cutting some of the orbicularis fibers and slowly releasing the lip from the brackets, one after the other. Fragments of dark paint were also removed from the wound, which was thoroughly cleaned afterward. Small bleedings were cauterized, and the lacerations were reapproximated using 6-0 Prolene single interrupted sutures. The last photo shows the healing after 5 days.
