Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a procedure to record electrical activity of heart. Heart beat with electrical impulse. Disturbance in electrical circuit of heart produces arrhythmia leading to cardiac arrest. To detect problem in the heart functioning 12 to 15 ECG leads are attached to the body. It is a painless procedure where the patient does not feel any discomfort. The readings appear on ECG monitor and printed in ECG report. ECG or EKG is a diagnostic test.
