Interferons for COVID-19 According to COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines by National Institute of Health (NIH), USA research studies show no benefit of interferons in patients with other equally severe coronaviruses including MERS and SARS. Keeping this mind, the panel comments: “Panel recommends against the use of interferons for the treatment of patients with severe or critical COVID-19, except in a clinical trial (AIII).”
